môy konita Today is Not for Nothing

When we look at the leaders around us — those who have climbed step by step — it’s clear that every ascent comes with challenge.

Every time something good is about to unfold in our lives, things often get harder just before that next step of growth.

When I was a child, I was taught a phrase in Cree: môy konita today is not for nothing.

At the time, I didn’t fully understand it.

But as I’ve grown, I’ve realized what it means — nothing in our journey is wasted.

Every challenge, every lesson, every moment of doubt serves a purpose.

Each of us has been chosen for the work we do.

We’ve been given gifts, talents, and abilities — and we’ve paired them with our calling to serve others, to help them live better, and longer.

Live more meaningful lives.

That is sacred work.

And when the path feels steep, remember: it’s often because you’re about to rise to your next level.
