Why Your Leadership Matters More Than You Think

I want to start with something I truly believe:

You were chosen to be here.

That’s not by accident.
That’s not coincidence.

Every single person in this room—every person reading this—has something within them that got them here.

A gift.
A strength.
A story.

Sometimes we overlook it. Sometimes we question it. But it’s there.

And often, it’s shaped by the very things we once struggled through.

When Obstacles Become Gateways

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in life is this:

Your greatest obstacles can become your greatest blessings.

But only if you keep going.

It’s easy to give up when things get hard.
It’s easy to feel like the challenges are too much.

But growth doesn’t happen in comfort.

It happens when you push forward—especially when it’s difficult.

So if you’re going through something right now, I want to remind you:

Hang in there. Keep moving forward.

There’s something on the other side of this.

A Full Circle Moment I’ll Never Forget

Recently, I experienced something I had never experienced before.

I reconnected with my childhood friend Johan—the same friend whose family had a profound impact on my life growing up.

We hadn’t seen each other in years.

And then one day, we sat down for coffee.

He started sharing some of the challenges he had been going through. And as I listened, I was reminded of something powerful:

Everyone is fighting battles you can’t always see.

Then he said something that stayed with me.

He said:

“I didn’t realize what my family did for you. We were just kids.”

He had no idea.

No idea that the kindness his family showed me…
The opportunities they helped create…
The belief they unknowingly gave me…

Would ripple out into the life I’ve built today.

And in that moment, sitting across from him years later, I realized:

Now I had the opportunity to help him.

That’s what a ripple effect looks like.

One Act Can Change Everything

We often underestimate the power of a single act.

A kind word.
A helping hand.
A moment of belief in someone else.

But here’s the truth:

One act of kindness can change the trajectory of someone’s life.

Johan’s family didn’t know what their actions would lead to.

They weren’t expecting anything in return.

They were just being good people.

And yet, years later, that same kindness came full circle.

Leadership Isn’t About Titles

When I say you were chosen to be a leader, I don’t mean you need a title.

Leadership isn’t about a position.
It’s about how you show up.

It’s about:

  • How you treat people
  • How you support those around you
  • How you respond when things get difficult

Leadership is about influence.

And every single one of you has influence.

The Responsibility We Carry

With that influence comes responsibility.

To keep growing.
To keep learning.
To keep moving forward—even when it’s hard.

But also:

To look around you.

To notice who might be struggling.
To speak up for those who don’t have a voice.
To be the person who shows up when others need it most.

Because you never know what someone else is carrying.

What Matters Most

As you grow in your leadership, don’t lose sight of what matters most.

Take care of your family.
Take care of your mindset.
Take care of yourself.

Because when you’re strong internally, you can show up stronger for others.

And when you’re grounded in what matters, your impact becomes even greater.

Keep Moving Forward

No matter where you are in your journey…

No matter how difficult things may feel…

No matter how uncertain the path ahead looks…

Keep moving forward.

Because your story isn’t finished.
Your impact is still unfolding.
And someone, somewhere, is going to be better because you didn’t give up.

Final Thought

If there’s one thing I hope you take from this, it’s this:

You have the power to change someone’s life.

Not someday.
Not when everything is perfect.

Right now.

Through your actions.
Through your words.
Through your leadership.

So keep going.
Keep growing.
And never underestimate the ripple effect you can create in this world.
