Your Nerves Are Not the Enemy

I was terrified.

I didn’t know how to do it.

I didn’t even know where to start.

And that’s exactly why I want to talk to you about one of the quickest ways to build influence with people.

It starts with understanding one simple truth.

It is completely normal to feel nervous.

Let me say that again.

It is extremely normal to feel anxious before speaking in front of others.

That nervous energy—that tightness in your chest, the shaky hands, the butterflies in your stomach—that’s part of the process.

It happens to all of us.

And it’s time we normalize it.

We need to stop seeing nervousness as a problem.

Instead, we need to start using it as an asset.

Because those nerves?

They mean you care.

They mean this matters to you.

And that energy can be powerful if you know how to channel it.

Let me give you an example.

Think back to your school days.

You probably remember a teacher who was… well, boring.

Monotone.

Flat.

Every lesson sounded the same.

Every presentation felt like a lullaby.

And you wanted to go to sleep—not because the subject was boring, but because they were.

Why?

Because they weren’t nervous.

They weren’t engaged.

They weren’t emotionally invested.

They didn’t have that energy that comes from stepping out of your comfort zone.

That fire that makes a speaker come alive.

So here’s the truth: nerves aren’t a weakness.

They’re fuel.

They’re a sign that you’re stepping into something meaningful.

And when you learn how to harness them, they become your superpower.
